Our History
Narrative Movements (Regd. No. IV-190301126-17) is a West Bengal based Non-Government Organization, registered under the Indian Trust Act 1882, to create a healthy, holistic, socio-cultural atmosphere and search for a unique way to build a sustainable society in the heart of rural Bengal. The name, “Narrative Movements” was proposed by Padma Vibhushan KG Subramanyan, prominent pioneer of Indian Modern Art.
Though Narrative Movements is primarily shaped by a group of talented internationally acclaimed Contemporary Artists, numerous notable Musicians, Writers, Social activists, and other delegates from different professions are actively attached to the organization.
From the inception of the Narrative Movements, the group has organised countless events, including physical exhibitions in galleries across the world to the Bangla Biennale in the heart of rural Bengal. The vast activities of this group cannot be classified into one category. As the name suggests Narrative Movements is continuously moving forward to take new initiatives in contemporary art. NM had organised multiple residency programmes, PCW (Post-contemporary Wave), Public Art Event, Collaborative Children Art & Woman Empowerment Activities. Apart from that Narrative movement is ardent to take responsibility for social development through art, talk about environmental issues and spread awareness within the communities.narrativemovements.org was founded in 1995 by a group of community members who recognized the need for a local organization dedicated to helping homeless individuals. Since then, we have grown into a thriving nonprofit, serving hundreds of individuals each year.

So, our main motto is to spread awareness of the unconventional practice of art all around. And it’s equally important to create a golden connection between art and the life of a particular individual. This crafting attachment of human individuals with their own identity will only be possible if we have the practice of art going all around us. For this, we need to create awareness within the people about the aesthetic senses of art and culture. We can also arouse the hidden embryonic abilities through the process of knowledge sharing and transferring them into creative human beings uniting them with the potential that everybody carries within themselves.
