Women Empowerment

Women empowerment is about nurturing independence, confidence, and the freedom to make one’s own choices. When women grow, communities grow stronger.

We work closely with women from SC, ST, and OBC communities around Komdhara, helping them learn embroidery and crafts that support their financial independence. Alongside this, we promote health and well-being through awareness sessions and regular medical check-ups—so every woman can grow with dignity, strength, and care.

Art Awareness

Art Awareness goes beyond understanding art—it brings art closer to people, enriching everyday life and nurturing cultural depth within communities. By making art accessible and encouraging active participation, it fosters creativity, self-expression, and confidence. Through this shared experience, art becomes a powerful force that connects people, builds empathy, and strengthens both individuals and society.

Communicative Exhibition

Communicative Exhibition

For us, an art exhibition is a space where people can share their feelings and thoughts freely. It helps them express their ideas with confidence, in a warm and welcoming environment.

Public Art

Communicative Exhibition

Public art is a vital part of Bangla Biennale. It helps us connect with people easily and spreads awareness about art in a simple, meaningful way.

Workshop for Everyone

Workshop for Everyone

We conduct diverse art workshops that create meaningful spaces for cultural exchange. Through these interactions, our dedicated artists work closely with villagers, nurturing their creativity and

Post Contemporary Wave

Art Awareness goes beyond understanding art—it brings art closer to people, especially in the post-contemporary wave where art becomes more inclusive, participatory, and rooted in everyday experiences. By making art accessible and encouraging active engagement, it nurtures creativity, self-expression, and a deeper cultural connection within communities. In this evolving artistic landscape, art continues to act as a powerful force that connects individuals, fosters empathy, and strengthens society.

Children Art

Children are naturally creative by birth and art plays an important role in the early stages of development. Collaborative art practice involves artists and children working closely together, often over extended periods, to make art. The non-verbal communication ability of children significantly improves in this process and they learn to express through visual languages.

Narrative Movements works with 27 villages in Hooghly District, West Bengal, India. The main focus is no underprivileged children. From the emergence of NM, many collaborative children’s art programmes had been conducted, locally and internationally. Every child reflects their level of self-awareness and the degree to which they are integrated with their environment in their artwork.

In these workshops, children are mentored by national & internationally acclaimed artists with different mediums and modes of practice. The artists also conduct art education sessions for children. After each workshop, there is also a scope of an exhibition where children get support and improvement feedback from participating artists and mentors. That helps in the learning and development of these children who are the future adults of society.

Bangla Biennale

Bangla Biennale 2019 was a vibrant coming together of art and community, featuring contemporary art exhibitions, cultural events, seminars, and a wide range of local and satellite activities. With over 200 participants from across India and around the world, it created a rich space for dialogue, creativity, and cultural exchange. Building on this spirit, we are confident that the next Biennale will open even more meaningful avenues for patrons and sponsors—offering the opportunity to connect with a diverse and evolving audience, and to be part of an experience that celebrates art, people, and shared cultural journeys.

Gaushala

Cattle Welfare Project

NM’s Gaushala initiative is dedicated to the rescue, care, and rehabilitation of abandoned, sick, and vulnerable cattle, ensuring their well-being with dignity and compassion. The project goes beyond shelter by focusing on proper nutrition, veterinary care, hygiene, and humane living conditions.

It aims to transform traditional Gaushalas into well-managed, sustainable centers that prioritize animal welfare alongside resource efficiency. By promoting the use of cattle by-products such as organic manure, biogas, and natural fertilizers, the initiative supports eco-friendly agricultural practices.

The project also seeks to create awareness about ethical animal care and responsible community participation. Ultimately, it envisions Gaushalas as self-sustaining ecosystems that benefit both animals and rural livelihoods.

Fish Farming

Fresh Water Fish Farming Project

NM’s Fresh Water Fish Farming Project is designed to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural communities, particularly small and marginal farmers in Hooghly. By promoting integrated fish farming, the initiative ensures efficient use of local resources while increasing income and food security.

The project addresses the growing demand for affordable protein by enabling consistent production and supply of quality fish. It also focuses on skill development and training, empowering youth and women to participate in income-generating activities. Through environmentally conscious practices, the project contributes to wetland conservation and resource optimization. Overall, it aims to build self-reliant communities with improved nutrition, economic stability, and long-term resilience.

Skill Development

Computer Training Project

Our Computer Training Project focuses on empowering underprivileged youth, especially school dropouts and unemployed individuals, with essential digital and vocational skills.

The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide by providing access to computer education and modern technological knowledge. Through structured training programs, participants gain practical skills that enhance their employability and open pathways to better career opportunities.

The project also emphasizes education, awareness, and confidence-building, enabling individuals to become self-reliant. By targeting marginalized communities, it supports inclusive development and social upliftment. Ultimately, the initiative contributes to building a skilled, informed, and economically empowered society.

These projects represent a mix of ongoing efforts and upcoming initiatives that Narrative Movements aims to implement in the future.
